Oulu Symphony Orchestra is composed of 61 musicians and is the northernmost symphony orchestra in Finland. The Oulu Symphony Orchestra performs traditional symphony concerts, as well as a wide range of musical genres. Madetoja hall at the Oulu Music Center has 816 seats.

The task is to act as a bassoon player in the symphony orchestra. The bassoon player is expected to maintain his/her playing skills and carry out all other tasks within the area of responsibility.

The position requires excellent playing skills and good social interaction skills.

Bonuses for previous work experience shall be added to the pay in accordance with the Collective Agreement along with compensations for costume and musical instrument. Any possible recording work and working in small ensembles shall be compensated separately.

The audition will be held on Friday 3rd of September 2021 starting at 10 am (Finnish time) at the Music Center in Madetoja Hall, Leevi Madetojan katu 1-3, Oulu, Finland.

Audition repertoire:

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Bassoon concerto in B-flat major, K. 191, 1st and 2nd movement (no cadenza) Camille Saint-Saëns: Bassoon Sonata in G major, op. 168

Orchestral music repertoire will be sent as PDF to persons invited to audition after the closing date for submitting applications. If there are too many applicants there will be a video qualification for the audition. Recordings will be asked with a separate request on demand.

The one who will be appointed to this position must submit a medical certificate for his/her state of health before accepting the position. The City of Oulu applies a probationary period of six (6) months in its permanent positions.
